The Book of Revelation is not a history book in the way that we would normally view history books. It is a prophetic book of history told to us in advance. After Revelation chapter six, the book becomes EVENT driven and it foretells the events that are to come upon this earth in the latter-days (Dan 12:4). The DETAILS of the events are given to us by God’s prophets, and thus forms a necessary link to many Old Testament writings and prophecies.

As it is stated in the first verse of the book, it is the REVELATION of JESUS CHRIST which God gave to Him to give to His servants revealing the things which must come to pass. It is a road map of God’s dealings with a sinful Christ-rejecting world. It tells us of God’s plan, to reveal to this world just who His Son is, KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS. Indeed, Jesus will one day rule over this world and there will be peace at last. Jesus Christ is for the believer the substance of all their hopes and dreams. The righteous will finally all be home with their love ones and they will shine like the sun.
