Daniel 9:24 (NASB), "Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place.

Note:
v24: The angel tells Daniel who this 70-week prophecy is for (his people the Jews and for Jerusalem.) Then the angel gives 6 reasons for this prophecy (see chart above).

v27: - Confirms the (7 yr.) covenant [Hebrew is shabua = 7 yrs.] (weeks of years 70x7=490 yrs. 483 of those years have come, 1 week of 7 years left till Messiah the Prince.)
We call that 1 week of 7 yrs. yet to come, the "Tribulation Week." The worst 7 year period of human history to ever come upon the earth, and it starts with a peace treaty (covenant) v27.
